Flea Control

Mrs. Bzzz Flea Control Strategy and Solutions

Flea infestation combat: insect growth regulators (IGRs) are used to halt the adult flea's reproduction cycle and prevent young fleas from reproducing. Insecticides designed to kill adult fleas are mixed with these growth inhibitors.

Household pets: It is necessary to treat cats and dogs professionally by a veterinarian while Mrs. Bzzz performs flea treatment for your home.

Prior to treatment, we educate our clients on steps they can take, such as vacuuming floors, removing belongings from floors, and washing pet bedding in hot water, to ensure optimal results for flea control.

Application of product: We apply the product to all exposed flooring and pet resting areas and employ outdoor application to specific areas, which is critical to our flea control program.

Flea Control Service Warranty: We provide a service warranty with all of our services to ensure 100% customer satisfaction with our flea control services. If customers are not satisfied, we will return until they are!

Mrs. Bzzz Pest & Termite Solutions offers one-time flea services throughout Northern NJ, as well as preventative service plans for other insects and rodents. Contact us today at (877) Mrs-Bzzz.

What are Fleas?

Fleas are wingless, parasitic insects that survive by feeding off a host organism without causing its death. To sustain themselves and reproduce, adult fleas require a warm-blooded host and use their piercing bite to extract blood. Although there are more than 2,000 flea species, only around six commonly affect cats and dogs. In New Jersey, the cat flea species accounts for over 90% of the fleas found on these domestic animals. Surprisingly, cat fleas show a preference for dogs, cats, and even humans as their primary hosts.

The life cycle of cat fleas involves metamorphosis through four distinct stages:

Egg: Cat flea eggs are small, pearly white, and measure 1/50 inch in length. Female fleas lay eggs on their host once every hour, and the eggs hatch within one to six days.

Larva: Flea larvae are free-living and feed on organic debris and adult flea feces in their environment. High humidity is necessary for their development, and they tend to seek protection under carpets where humidity is higher, especially indoors.

Pupa: Once the larvae have matured, they spin a cocoon within which they will pupate. In optimal conditions, adult fleas may emerge just five days after cocoon formation.

Adult: Upon emerging from their cocoon, adult fleas use movement cues to locate potential hosts and jump onto them within seconds. Once they find a host, they begin feeding and mating within 24 hours. The entire life cycle, which is temperature and humidity-dependent, typically lasts 12 to 14 days for cat fleas.
